The digital divide in England hits pupils from low-income families the most. Research suggests four out of five schools with pupils from low-income families do not have enough devices and internet access to ensure all those self-isolating can keep learning.
When it comes to schoolwork a smartphone is not sufficient – but the hard truth is that some families simply cannot afford the most appropriate IT equipment.
For schools to continue to support all their pupils throughout this pandemic they need more access to IT devices, but there is not enough money to meet demand.
Learning this shocked us so we decided to do something positive to help support the children and young carers that need us most.
As a UK registered charity, we provide 100% data destruction, track and trace, environmentally responsible re-use and give a whole new dimension to corporate community involvement.
Our beneficiaries include hospices, unemployed veterans, charity volunteers and UK charities that support schools in Africa, to whom we donate laptops at our events.
However, from January until April 2021 we are doing all we can to provide additional support to children and young carers in the community and ask for your help to get involved.
